I have recently loaded Lightroom 5. I inserted my card reader with the SD card in the USB of my iMac and then started the import. The files will not load and I get the following error message "The following files were not imported because they could not be read". I have googled and tried several suggestions without any success. I would appreciate any help.

I have found what worked for me. First I changed my folders where my photo files were going to reside to allow read and write. And after trying everything that I have found on different sites about my problem, I transferred my files to a folder on the desktop of my iMac. I was then able to import those files into Lightroom 5. Then I deleted these files and reinserted my card reader with my SD card into a USB port and first imported them to see in the library, then I selected the subfolder under destination, selected don't import duplicates, added a few keywords, then hit import and voila, the pictures were imported into Lightroom. What a relief! I was one step away from quitting Lightroom and looking into trying another software. All I can say is that loading the files from my desktop folder seemed to "prime the pump". It sounds strange, but it worked!!!! I hope this will help others that have the same problem that I did. Good luck to all. Warren
