Our cellphones (or tablets) are the only cameras we carry almost 100% of the time. The cameras have become very good but still suffer from their small sensor. This is specially true in low light situation, but also clearly visible in good light conditions, in a blue sky (unprocessed).Idea inspired from scientific image processing: take a series of short exposures, filter out the blurred ones and average them. This would increase SNR (by sqrt(N)). This might revolutionize small sensor photography! ...and would give LR a giant leap forward in terms of iOS app!
Edit: seems also to be called temporal noise reduction or TNR
