sort order is easily changed unintended. A way to lock the order would be nice

Which product are you using?
Which version?

Lightroom (posted it there I think). Version doesn't apply: non of them have the feature.

There is no "in there", you have to tell us what product you are referring to.

And sometimes the version is useful, because features might already be implemented in more recent versions.

why do I have to choose a product then before I can post something?.
Version: as said: no version up till the latest has it.

Be aware: sort order is source (e.g. folder/collection) specific, so if you change it in one place, it doesn't change it in other places. That's probably what's happening - i.e. you changed it one place, then switched folder / collection, and sort order seemed to have inadvertently changed. Could that be it?

No. It is as I wrote... I know how LR works. I simple want to be able to lock the sort order. For every individual folder/collection. As said: it is changed too easily: one accidental move of the pen and I have a user order instead of whatever it was.

OK - I think I see what you mean. It's not the sort-order drop-down that is the problem, but inadvertently dragging a photo in the grid which changes the sort order to 'User'.
