I just don't get the new sliders in the Develop Module.

(1) Is the new process better or are there times when I should the old one?

(2) Is there a good tutorial on the new sliders?

Thank you for the Video John. Is there anything in text format? I like to read and think about.

I am having a hard time understanding:

(1) Where to set exposure, since it affects all of the other sliders and
(2) Why I need to set Contrast so early in the process, whereas I almost never touched it in LR3

Generally, the controls are presented in the order you might use them in the Basic panel. Get the WB set, which maps out the space the four major areas take up in the image. Exposure and contrast to get basic tone. Then refine to control clipping, set white and black points. After that, it's all about the fun stuff, like artistic contrast and colour tweaks.

At this point, if I really want to wang the sliders, I'll make a virtual copy, or at least take a snapshot.

I would add that the first thing I do is apply a lens profile, but this is done on import for me.

Most of the tutorials out there are video. You can search for text, and you'll find clusters of good stuff at the usual places like lightroomsecrets and so on. But you might want to spring for the Lr 4 book if you are like me, and like to have a printed reference.
