Photoshop: short cuts and special character keys stop working

After 5 years of trying to isolate the cause of a problem I phoned you about, I have finally discovered what causes it. On CS3 and CS5 ( I don't have CS4) if you duplicate something on a page by using the alt. key and dragging a copy to a new spot while holding down the shift key at the same time to hold its alignment, a bug is triggered which will not go away without closing and reopening the program.

The bug is that several of the special character keys change their meaning. For instance the / becomes a -, the - becomes a ', the short cut keys for enlarging or shrinking brush tips stop working, etc.

Since I could not reproduce it before, you were unable to fix it. Now I can and so can you. PLEASE fix it ASAP. It has been driving me nuts!

On Windows 7 and XP, using LR3, LR4, PS CS4, PS CS5, PS CS6, I've had the problem of brush size short keys stopping and starting intermittently. This problem has existed for many years and I've reported it many times.

Sometimes it starts working again on it's own. Sometimes reboot is required.

Let's get it fixes.

Working with a great support agent we found out that brush keys short cut stops working if CAPS lock is on. Please turn off this programming because it works against they typical workflow of having CAPS lock on so images auto-advance.

Photoshop doesn't care about (or even look for) the state of caps lock for the brush keys.  Photoshop is just looking for the key values sent by the keyboard/driver/OS.  If you assigned letters to the brush keys, then it would make a difference (because the keyboard would send 'B' instead of 'b'), but the bracket and braces keys are unaffected by caps lock on standard keyboards.

Actually it does, just go test it. Turning on Caps Lock changes the state of the brush key from full size brush to a simple target with no size ring.

No, caps lock only changes the cursor.  It doesn't change the keys.

That's right Chris, I was mixing up two design flaws/bugs.
