I have Cs6 Photoshop (actually Creative Suite CS6) and Lightroom 5.2. Under CS6 HELPd like to get 8.2 to avoid the message in Lightroom that indicates ACR 8.2 is recommended to open in CS6.
I tried to separately download DNG converter but during installation, it gets jammed at INSTAL

Hi Ralph,

How are you trying to install the update? Are you choosing Help>Updates... from Photoshop? What is the exact error you get? Are you on Mac or Win? (OS/version)

HELP<Updates just shows Adove Camera Raw 7 83 MB. If it click it shows Downloading for a couple of seconds then stops. I probably have it this installed already. So went to an adobe support site and downloaded DNGConverter_8_2 successfully but it when I get to INSTAL, I click and nothing happens.

Can you post a screen shot of the dialog? Instructions: How do I add a screen shot on this feedback site?

MAC OSX 10.9.
I actually don't get any error, nothing happens at the stage in the process where it stops. I've tried many times. But Lightroom 5.2 states "...recommend upgrading to Camera Raw 8.2.." when I try to open a raw file in Lightroom.

1st is trying to instal DNGConverter_8_2. When I click INSTAL a window pops up saying Installing for 2 secs then it disappears and returns to the window pictured. Repeatedly clicking install and nothing happens.

Try this. Create a new admin account (directions here: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/201... ) and run Photoshop from the new Admin account. Choose Help>Updates... and see if the updater finishes when run from the new admin account.

Thanks Jeff. Well it solved the problem of installing DNG Converter 8.2 but I still don't seem to be getting the RAW converter 8.2 recognized in Lightroom 5. See attached. Thanks very much for your help

Hi Ralph, yeah, I wouldn't expect converting the files to DNG to negate that dialog. It's not caused the file format, but by the process versions used by the ACR and LR not being matched.

Did running under an Admin account allow you to update Photoshop and the Camera Raw plug-in as well? Or did you hit errors problems updating under the new admin account?

Ahhh yr a genius Jeff. The weird thing is that PS CS6 Updates still said "Photoshop Camera Raw 7" but when the update was executed, it said updating to 8.2.

Many thanks, great job

I noticed your mood. Do you know about the photographer's program for existing license holders? Gives you PS + LR for $9.99 ongoing price (not a first year promo). http://blogs.adobe.com/creativelayer/...
