I hate the New crop toll too. Been using it for 2 months now and it's still so annoying. I always upgrade to new versions of PS, but won't be so keen in future if they keep "improving" things like this. Bring back the old crop!

Have you tried using the Crop tool option bar setting pull-down menu and checking
use classic mode?

Hi John, Yes I have and it's not what you would expect for something that's called "classic mode". It gives the impression that it's the old perfectly good version, but it has all the same annoying faults as the "new" or as I'd prefer to call it, "rubbish" crop tool. I have also read all the previous threads from other unhappy customers, so we really don't need to go over it all again.
I just want it registered that I hate it, I think the previous version should be reinstated and whoever thought this was a good idea should be put back in the mail room.

Your not alone John why they have a version of the crop tool called 'classic' is bizarre as its not. Even in classic, cropping is time consuming as I struggle to force it to do as I need and continually have to reset. I'm sure Adobe have no idea how much they have shot themselves in the foot. I am seriously considering going back to CS5 so that I can get on with my work easily simply in a good mood and I'm sure others are too

The "Classic" mode is anything but - it just doesn't work like the old tool did.

It might be great for photographers, but for web designers, this "new and improved" tool is absolute rubbish.

I've been a photographer for 29 years and using Photoshop since v3.0.2 and the CS6 cropping tool is a disaster for photographers too!

Sorry but this is not good for photographers or any designer unless you are a total newbie then you should be using Adobe Elements. This is a professional program and this new crop tool even in 'classic' mode is just horrible. Again showing that they didn't listen to the beta testers and went with what they (Adobe) wanted to cram down our throats. BS>

Is a link to a large and growing number of complaints. Adobe seem to be dragging their feet on this for me its in need of an urgent fix and its amazing as customers why Adobe are attempting to force us the end users to start wasting time with a gimmicky tool

Whew, I hate the new crop tool as well. I sort of found a workaround that makes it more tolerable, ie--you just drag and crop much like before, that is it. Perhaps it can help someone.

With crop tool selected...
1-Click "Classic Mode" (by itself this looks nothing like the older crop modes)
2-Make sure ratio is set to Unconstrained
3-Under View be sure to select Never Show Overlay
4- Make sure Delete Cropped pixels is selected
5-On toolbar change tool to Perspective Crop Tool
6-On options bar deselect Show Grid
7-Save your workspace!
8-Now when you work just make sure you are on Perspective Crop Tool when you do a normal crop and it should look similar to the old versions. (No more handles, dotted lines, moving photo around, etc)

This is the closest thing I've found to just being able to drag/crop and hit enter like before.

I'm a pro photographer and have used Photoshop for 8 hours a day over the past 15 years--and for the life of me I cannot understand why they changed the crop tool. LOL.

Please for my profits sake, bring back the full classic mode. The new crop tool is costing me.
