When I try to add music to my slideshow a box appears with a yellow warning triangle. The caption reads system does not have required compresser/decompresser codec installed

Are you on Mac or Windows?

What kind of music file? Have you tried transcoding the file to .wav or another format?

Thank you so much for replying.I am on windows and it is a video/audio file. I am new to computing and do not understand a lot of the technical side of things - if it doesn't work I am stumped!!!!! What do I do now?

Hi Frank. Is the file an .MP3? .Wav file? If you double-click the file, what application opens the file? Is the default program that opens the file able to play the audio file?

Hi Jeff
It is in I Tunes a MPEG-4 audio file.
Our daughter used the computer last year and made a video for a 40th birthday
the music went on then with no problem but she could not do it this time.
Regards
Frank
