I can open my photoshop document but cannot see it. When I click on it without letting go, I can see what is in that document and when I let go it disappears. I open a new document and then click OK then it disappear also.

What version of Photoshop? Are you on Windows? Sounds like your graphics card driver is out of date. Go to either the nVidia or AMD/ATI website (based on what card you have) and download the latest video drivers.

Take a look at this document, just to make sure it's not the problem:

Thanks for the suggestion. I have a brand new (3 day old) laptop Dell XPS with Windows 7 and have CS5.5 that is a trial. I can open any document but it is all grey just like the background. I can see all the layers but not the document. Weird.

Definitely sounds like an video card driver issue. Update your driver (go directly to the video card makers website *not* Windows Update - Windows Update doesn't give you the latest and greatest) and you'll be all set.

I went to Preferences/GPU Settings and unchecked the box next to enable OpenGL Drawing and restarted and I can see the images after I open the documents. My video card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M/PCI/SSE2. My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit (Service Pack 1). It is working now and I'm a happy camper for now. Thank you again.

So you've avoided the bugs in the driver by disabling OpenGL drawing. You still probably need to update the driver to fix the bugs, or contact NVidia and help them get more info so they can fix the bugs.
