Photoshop CC: I can not use the Direct Selection Pen Tool on a selected compound shape

Sometimes I can not use the Direct Selection Tool on a selected compound shape. It doesn't matter which of the Active Layers or All Layers option is used. The workaround is to press the Pen Tool , then go back to the Direct Selection Tool to be able to edit the shape. I have Photoshop CC version 14.2.1 x64. Thanks.

I have Photoshop cc thou the cloud, and the select tools when used turn my images black and keeps me from being able to select any part of a image I am working on. SO far there are no answers as to why , no matter where or who I ask. cant get work done. Using windows 8

This is a great conversation that's separate from the main topic, so I created a new topic to continue the discussion. Please reference the new topic here: Photoshop: Image turns black when I use selection tools

Hi Dragos,

We weren't able to reproduce this. Are you still having this issue in Photoshop CC 2014?
