Lightroom CC: I would like to import my pictures in inplace

there does not seem to be an option to import the pictures (the originals) where they are. LCC makes a copy in a special folder. however, my pics are already ordered with a good structure. the only thing I found is the place of the folder  where the pics are moved to. I don't need/want a second copy of all pictures on my harddrive. It would be nicer to import the pictures from where they are directly.

I think it's done that way to protect the integrity of those files during what might be a very long upload process. However, once the upload is complete you can delete those copies if you wish (LRCC should do that anyway, provided you haven't elected to "Store a copy of all originals locally" in the LRCC Preferences, but that would likely happen over time).

Hey Soren,

Luckily there is a feature where you can do this!

When in the Lightroom import photos screen there should be an option at the top middle where it will give you four options - Copy as DNG, Copy, Move and Add.

You want to choose the option ADD, you will see that it actually takes away a lot of options in the right panel.

Then for importing the files and maintaining the folder structure you need to highlight every specific folder you wish to be imported in the left panel including both the parent and the sub folders.
Or you can do one folder at a time if you don't wish to clog up your processing power for hundreds of folders at a time.

Voila :) Let me know if you're still having trouble

Enjoy your day!

I think you've misunderstood....this thread is about the new cloud-centric LRCC app, not the "traditional" Lightroom Classic (or earlier versions).

I agree, Lightroom CC does not have such an option at the indicated place.
