PHOTOSHOP: I want a 'Grapple" tool to quickly jump to layers buried deep within complex layer groups.

A feature I would love to see- a "grapple" tool; something between magic wand and how the text tool jumps me to a text layer. When I am working in large, complex projects with detailed layer groups nested in more layer groups, I find myself using the text tool a lot to click on burried text layers deep within layer groups to quickly navigate through large PSD projects just to get me where I need to go, instead of having to remember which layers groups to nav through. Similarly, I want a tool that let's me click on any part of the canvas and jump me directly to that object layer, just like the text tool will jump me directly to any text layer. I realize there are some obviously problems, especially considering overlays and transparencies, distinguishing between a single desired layer, but in these cases I could see this as perhaps showing me a bubble popup of the active layers I've chosen to help me quickly select the one I wanted. Essentially I want to click on an 'object' or even a pixel, like in illustrator, and have it take me to it.

You mean like the auto-select feature on the move tool?

Welp, that's amazing. How did I never know this existed?

Is there a way to quick toggle select (hold shift, etc) to switch between moving the active layer and grabbing an auto-select layer?

No, there isn't that I know of, but I think there is already a feature request for such a toggle.
