you lucky one, I have to start photoshop after every use. ;-)
maybe any settings which I configured that aren't "fine" for ps, the adobe support told me.
he said, i should reset photoshop and copy step by step the settings back.
sadly I also copied the bad settings back, so I have to give it a second try.

Based on this thread, it sounds like this is caused by a damaged file and reinstall fixed it: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1593198?start=0&tstart=0

I don't think so. If .dll file was damaged, most likely focus select would not work at all.
I did byte-to-byte comparison of AdbePM.dll files from my desktop and laptop (it is not likely that they were damaged in the similar way, right?), there are no differences.

However maybe you can post the correct version of AdbePM.dll somewhere, so that I can download it and replace mine, and see whether it fixes the bug?

It would be best to uninstall/reinstall to avoid other potential issues. https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

I have replaced this dll with file from my another machine, it didn't help.

Why can't Creative Cloud compare checksums of application files to see if something is corrupted?

Reinstallation requires  to install plugins/actions/preferences, which is time consuming (especially after preferences and actions sync was disabled in PS CC 2015) - at least half of working day will be lost.

Why previosly photoshop could work without problems for ages and had less bugs?... Rhetorical question

It took upgrading my 3 retouching people to 32gb of ram each For it not to happen all the time. But it still does once a day. I also cleared out system and user cach on the Mac and the seems to help reduce this happening as often also.

and don ́t tell me to reinstall.

i have reinstalled a few times and it did not help.

i also have installed on a fresh system in august 2015 and december 2015 (when

windows10 and windows 10 TH2 were released).

this photoshop feature never worked correctly.
