Your image is simply collapsed in the photo bin. It's open as indicated on the top bar, but not shown in the working space.
Double click (or the Mac equivalent) on the thumbnail in the photo bin and the image will show in the working space. Alternatively, use the contextual menu (right click) and choose the 'restore' option - third one).

The problem is that I can ́t click anywhere. I try but the program doesn ́t react. It doesn ́t allow me to click and enlarge image. As you can see in the upper menú where Quick and Expert options are, although I open the window the Expert option never appears.

I am not a Mac user, but that seems to be a problem where the top menu in Macs can't be reached. I have seen answers by Barbara Brundage on the Elements User to user forum, but I can't find them now.
If you don't get an anwser here, you might post in:
https://forums.adobe.com/community/ph...

Edit:
Have a look at Barbara's blog, scroll down to:
'Stuch windows in Photoshop Elements on a Mac'.

Would it be the same problem?

Is this system ever hooked up to two monitors? My guess is the image is open off screen and resetting the preferences will reset this.

Thanks so much Michel, this is the problem:

"Since Apple released Yosemite, it’s been kind of puzzling–most people have had no special trouble with PSE 12 since the update, but some people have been having a heck of a time with any of the tools in the Enhance section of the PSE toolbox causing PSE to freeze completely.

It appears that the problem is something to do with trackpads only, so for now, if you switch back to using a mouse everything should work again."

The bad part is that I have the update on Yosemite but it still is not working... whats a disaster!!! thanks for your time.. and help.

You've updated to 10.10.1? That should fix the trackpad issue. Try restarting the whole computer and see if the problem persists.
