You need to subscribe to the Photographer's Bundle to get the latest version of Lightroom, buy the slightly older Lightroom 6 upgrade (instructions link as it's well hidden on the website), or use the free DNG converter to convert the raw files to DNG format.

If it was me, I'd go with the subscription. It's very low cost at less than $10 a month, always includes the latest versions of Lightroom and Photoshop, and gives you cloud sync with Lightroom mobile on your phone/tablet too.

Lightroom 6 Upgrade would work too, as support was added in 6.6, but you'd be missing some of the great new features they've added to the sub.

Or the DNG conversion is free and the resulting files would work with Lightroom 5, but it's a bit of a hassle to have to copy the files to your hard drive manually and convert them before you can add them to Lightroom.

Yes you need the Creative Cloud version, so the Photographers bundle would be the cheapest deal, or buy Picktorial.app, does a similar job, but very affordable or Corel's AfterShot Pro, neither of these are sold as a subscription at the moment, but I suspect that most companies will adopt this method soon, Although I believe it's up to us users to show that if they fail to deliver regular bug fixes, then we will see it as a failure to provide the paid for service!
