I have recently (yesterday actually) bought Elements 2018. I can't import my Mac Photos (about 150+ GB). I used Import from Files/Folders options. The program starts to locate files, and numbers, etc. At about 5% mark it gives up, and doesn't show any imports until 5% mark. It stops at the same spot every time.

I have had similar files imported on my Lightroom CC catalog without any issues.

Here is system info:

Current Catalog:

Catalog Location: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\Imported Pictures from Past\

Catalog Cache Size: 63.4MB

System:
Operating System Name: Windows 10
Operating System Version: 10.0
System Architecture: Intel CPU Family:6 Model:14 Stepping:10 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2

Try first to import 1 folder and see how that works. Then try a folder with a few sub folders.

Seems that for PSE16 150GB+ is a bit much to import in one batch.
There is also a possibility that it hangs at a certain file it cannot cope with.
I have PSE13 and built my catalog of approx. 50GB pictures during many years and started with the first version of Elements, so I have no experience with Elements 2018 (actually PSE16)

Hi Jack,

Thanks so much for your advice. I did follow it, and while doing that I found out few problems with my disk. The import used to get stuck or abort while reading a file with CRC error. I figured it out while running chkdsk. So, I had to do few iterations to figure all corrupted files.

After, I got all good files off from this disk, the import went fairly smooth.

Thanks again for your advice.

Regards!
