Hi there,

I just updated the latest photoshop version last week, but I meet a problem with selecting a layer when I right-clicked on that layer. My photoshop only allowed me to select the group like this even when I choose Auto-select the layer in the top panel. Therefore, I have to find the layer which I want to choose in the layer panel, It takes a lot of time when I have to work on many different layers. How can I fix it?

Can you please try installing the 19.1.3 update that went out today to see if it corrects the problem?

Thanks! I did update that version and it works, everything is back to normal. I think the problem is about the photoshop version.

Howdy Van,

This behavior is actually correct and hasn't changed in quite some time.  When you right-click, whether you have Auto-Select checked or not, you are given a list of all the layers which have context/pixels at your click location.  Then you can select one and continue working.

Are you saying that you cannot select a layer from this context menu?  What sort of keyboard and mouse are you using?

Yes you're right. It's not about I check Auto-select or not or my keyboard/mouse. It's about the photoshop version I think. I update again and problem is solved. Thanks a lot for your response!!
