The CD spins up and then does nothing. I've looked at the readme file and I did what it said there but still nothing

What's your operating system? And when you say "I did what it said there" - what was that?

its win 8.1. There is a read me file

Installing Lightroom 6
Do one of the following
1. Insert the DVD in your drive, and follow the on-screen instructions. If the installer does not launch automatically, double-click DVD Volume: Lightroom 6\Install Lightroom 6 (Windows) or Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6.pkg (Mac OS) at the root level of your disk to start the installation process.
2. If you downloaded the software from the web, open the folder and double-click Adobe Photoshop Lightroom (Windows or Mac OS), and then follow the on-screen instructions.

alright...it was 6 hours of chatting and trying different things and I was successful. I bit of patience does pay off. The folks at adobe were helpful, although I think there are some of the processes that could be sped up. But it is all good. I will start learning my new software with new pictures I have taken.

Thanks for your support

Mike
