I looked at the other post about this and saw that no Photoshop professional has responded. Maybe one of them will soon....

Well, lets just say, I am not working for Adobe, and a few techs who do you a favor don't either.  This is an Adobe blog-forum.  Some of their Adobe techs may be monitoring it for future improvements.  I am a Windows network tech.  My computer does not lock up when using text in elements 14 but the text field does lock up.  Hopefully Adobe will improve this along with many other problems (crop tool doesn't work, selection tool has round corner) all of these need to be improved for professionals like myself.
Unfortunately for you, this does not help.  An older element version should work for you. For instance, I am also using element-10 which has some problems but its text works wonderfully.  I find myself switching to it whenever elements 14 doesn't work for me.  Also, I have Photoshop CS6 which has problems but it has a good text field.  Elements 2, 3, 4, 8, are good for a 32 bit Windows.  Elements 10, 11, 12 is good for 64 bit windows.  I have many of the elements version for 32 and 64 bit, on another desktop and a laptop.  As a professional, I use my laptop for quick graphics or change-orders.  This forum lists problems, and hopefully Adobe is monitoring this.  Personally I will suggest that  adobe have a call-in line for problem and suggestions, like Microsoft once had.  Also, a place online for short message of problems and suggestions for changes should be in order on Adobe.com - I hope they get this message.
