Photoshop: How to select multiple paths in Photoshop CS5?

I've created a clipping path of an anchor. It has 4 additional 'subtracted' selections ..small areas within chain links. I selected each subtracted layer with the direct select tool, ctrl C, then ctrl v to paste into the 'anchor' path. after doing this to each 'subtracted' path, I used A (PATH select) and dragged across all paths to select. But I can't get to select more than one path. I'm trying to combine the layers.
It seems the combine has worked, because I can use the MOVE tool and the anchor moves and the cut-outs in the chain links work. But I can't use ctrl c, then ctrl v to put image in a new document. I only get an outline. HELP, please!

While Photoshop CS5 does't support multiple path selection, Photoshop CC (14.x) does.
