Help! I have older photos from my beginings as a photographer. They were from a Sony camera and they have the date stamped in red on them. (did not realize that I could turn that feature off at first) I have been able to remove it from some of them but only by accident. I don't understand how to use the spot remover button or if there is a better way.
Please tell me how to fix these photos!

Removing something really means painting over it with something else that matches the surrounding pixels, and how well it works depends on what surrounds the date digits, where solid areas or random-textured area behind the date is usually much easier to work with.

The spotting tool in LR is not very good for this task because it is round.

Photoshop has much better tools for this, and even Elements has some tools like the healing brush.
