Is it Windows that stops working, or is Photoshop Elements crashing and Windows is reporting that the application is no longer working? Is it only the panorama that is failing, or do you experience the same problem with the other Photomerge options?

When does the problem occur? As soon as you click Photomerge Panorama? Or when you click OK in the Panorama dialog?

Looking at it again it is elements that is crashing and then windows closes the program. I have found that if I select the files and then wait 20 mins the program works welll occasionally. Not tried with other photomerges yet but just tried to share some photos using photo mail (11 files) and the program has crashed with same error message. Did try sorting out the photomerge issue with live chat on your help line but by the time I got through the program worked ok hence my comment above re waiting.

I don't know if Elements V9 have same option as the standard PS does, but If then try this:

Go into settings/options and find the Performance tab. Have you changed the Cache levels to a lower value, ex. 2? Try setting it to 4 and retry some panos.

Me and some other people have isolated why photomerge is slow. I had this problem myself and PS would also randomly crash when using photomerge with cache level <4. Photomerge also get a lot faster when increasing this value to ex. 6.

This happends in PS CC x64, but not in PS CS6 x64 with same performance settings. Adobe must have changed something in photomerge since CS6.

For developers, employees and users with the problem. Please check these threads:
