Photoshop CS6: problems with Enable menu in place/file open dialog

Some of the updates in CS6 just were unnecessary. I am so frustrated with adobe right now...they could have and should have put more meat in CS6 instead of all these frustrating additions.

How can I...or is it even possible to disable the "enable" feature on the menu that now comes up when I go to place an object. Everytime, now instead of just clicking the document I want, whether it be a jpeg or png or whatever I have to waste 10 minutes just to enable all readable document formats or get distracted scrolling through a list of like a hundred items...soooooooooo annoying this is just urking me.

Maybe I should wait till the NEXT major upgrade to pay adobe my hard earned cash. Maybe by then they will put something MAJOR in their Major.

Could you provide a little more detail on what you're referring to?
Are you having problems with the file open dialog?

no...when I'm already in photoshop working and I click >file>place....the pop up menu in CS6 to place a document has a new feature where you have to choose the doc type before it will allow you to pic one. I hate this new feature and wish I could disable it from doing that or remove it altogether.

I want the old style back where I could just click >file>place> and not have anything greyed out. I want to be able to pick and choose whatever type of file I want without having to choose the file type or scroll thru the entire list to choose enable all readable documents. If you notice until I choose, all my files are greyed out, essentially not letting me choose anything until I make this determination first. Time consuming and very annoying. Thanks.

That's the OS file open dialog. Thank you for including pictures so we know what you're referring to.

That's not a new feature or style, or anything like that. We're not sure what causes the menu to be disabled like that -- for us it always comes up with "all readable documents" selected.

It could be related to problems with duplicated and obsolete plugins being loaded (which causes worse problems in the save dialog).

humm, I'm not sure what you mean by it's the "OS file open dialog"...all I know is this is the only program on my computer which does this, and it only happened with CS6...and it comes up by accessing the place menu item inside photoshop not file open...but humm interesting...thx.

That dialog is that OS (provided by the operating system) file open dialog - it is not really a Photoshop dialog, so we don't have a lot of control over it.

Can you post your Help -> System Info log here? (I suspect some duplicate plugins)
