Photoshop: how do you make a picture larger?

i am trying to get my picture to be the background of a powerpoint slide therefore I need to make my image larger to fill up the entire background and photoshop will only let the image be 194 X 259 which is still too small.

Anika, you can go to Image>Canvas size, and enlarge the canvas, if you just want to fill the background with the same color with the paint bucket tool, for instance, or you could go to Image>image size, if you want to enlarge the whole image.
That said, you cannot expect to get a crisp image if you enlarge too much.
Is the image line art or photo-like?

In the Image>Image Size... dialog make sure that 'Resample Image:' is checked to resize the image such that you're adding pixels to the image, rather than just changing the units:
