You can't "Edit in ACR" from LR, like you can from Bridge. You should probably update to LR 3 if you want to use it with PS CS5, so they will be using the same settings. PS CS5 will have better things than LR2 knows about.

If you want to use PS CS5, then upgrade your LR to version 3.

The settings in LR3 are the same as the settings in ACR 6, so you wouldn't need to Edit in ACR if you used LR3.

What is your workflow, now, that you are trying to perfect, where Edit in ACR seemed like a good idea?

To clarify why there is only an Edit in Photoshop, not Edit in ACR, when you Edit in Photoshop and the versions are compatible (LR2/CS4, LR3/CS5), at least, LR passes the ACR settings to PS and PS uses ACR behind-the-scenes to open the file in ACR on the way into PS, but you never see the user-interface of ACR, just its results in PS. If the versions are not compatible, then you will see a warning about that and a choice to open anyway which uses the incompatible ACR to interpret the LR settings, or to have LR render as a TIF or PSD file on disk, and then that file is opened in Photoshop. This second choice is less useful because it creates an extra file on disk and it also may truncate some colors as it stores things in the file unless you are careful with your settings.

All this means that for optimal integration between LR and PS, you should be using the compatible versions and then make all your ACR-type adjustments in LR and just use PS for the other non-ACR-type things.

If there aren't resources to update both LR and PS, then it could be better to not update PS, but keep LR up-to-date, and then use the write-to-intermediate-file version of the Edit in Photoshop. That way the ACR-type Adjustments are all done in LR and PS can be used to do non-ACR things, which is why you need it in the first place.

You may have your own reasons for having a more up-to-date Photoshop and older version of LR, but this isn't really how things are designed to work.

This is starting to go over my head. : ) Okay, next question....how do I get LR to NOT make the auto adjustments on a RAW OR is it the same auto that ACR would make?

If by Auto Adjustments you mean the same thing as clicking the word Auto above the Basic toning adjustments are in the right-hand panel, then there is a preference, somewhere in LR, that allows you to specify whether LR should apply auto-toning to each image as it is imported or have the same defaults applied to every image, and there is also an Auto Toning preset that you can specify or not with an Import operation, that you could have set unknowingly I no longer have LR 2 installed, anywhere, so cannot give you specific clicks to get to the preference, but it shouldn't be too difficult to find.

The Auto Adjustments should be reasonably the same between compatible versions of LR and ACR, such as ACR 5 and LR 2 or ACR 6 and LR 3, but also reasonably similar between mismatched versions of LR and ACR as your situation, although there has been some evolution of what Auto does as difficult situations are resolved.
