How do I stop Photoshop from resizing images when editing? I use a 10.2 mp camera but after editing, my photos are around 2.8 mp. How do I stop this from happening?

Photoshop doesn't resize images when editing -- that is something that you have to do explicitly.

If you are opening images in ACR, have you checked the ACR settings to make sure that you didn't tell it to resize the images?

Are you possibly confusing file size with image size?

I don't think that I'm confusing file size with image size (although that's possible, I'm definitely a newbie) - you get your image size in megapixels by width * height over a million, right? However, it could be that I'm doing something to cause the change without realizing it. I used the online photo editor through Elements, and all I changed was the saturation. I went through the process again just to look, and I don't even see an option to change (or refrain from changing) the resolution or size. The original photo is 3872 x 2592 (file size is 3.27 mb), and the one I saved after increasing the saturation is 2048 x 1370 (file size is 497 kb). I actually edited several photos this way and all were reduced significantly, resulting in them being rejected when I submitted them to a couple of websites.

Camera Raw has options for the bit depth, color profile, and image size -- so you can open an image and have the result be smaller or larger than the original (click the options like at the bottom of the ACR window that shows you those details).

Sorry- I'm using Express, not Elements. I don't see any way to access ACR.

No, Express doesn't have ACR, and is a far different thing from Photoshop or Elements.

Sorry- told you I was a newbie.. So there's no way to stop that in Express?
Thanks for taking so much time with my issue.

Unfortunately, I don't know enough about Express to answer your question.

Hi Samantha

Try another free app from Adobe called Adobe Revel, and see if that suits your needs. Revel's editor doesn't have all the editing capabilities of Photoshop Express, but will preserve the resolution of your images. When you save edited versions of your images, the file size may differ from the original, but the dimensions will be preserved.

You can find Revel on the iOS, Mac, and Android App stores.
