Photoshop: How do I fill a shape whith text that has gaps?

I want to fill this shape with text but when i try the shape is always just a rectange

Hi Tom,

I'd like to answer your question, but I'm not following you too well.  A "shape" is an enclosed/complete series of paths.  If you add text, it conforms to the area within the shape.  If the shape is not complete, then you can place the type on the path itself.  In this case, however, the shape you have is very complex.  It appears, however, that the various rectangles with the words "forest", "hill", and "school" are behaving correctly.  What were you envisioning?

Hi Thanks for the replys.
I am using photoshop cs4

I want it so a lst of 100 names is inside the black and the white is blank . I have done this before with a simple shape like a 14 (see picture) but I would like to do it for the logo
