How to disable Single Click from automatically opening Files (in program and into Photoshop)

I am currently running Bridge CC (2017) on my early 2011 Mac BookPro with OS X Yosemite. I have been experiencing a strange behavior when navigating throughout Bridge. I am used to double clicking on a folder/file to open and view what it is - imagine clicking a folder/file on your desktop; a single click simply selects the item and a double click will open it. Bridge seems to ignore this standard navigational action and preemptively opens a file with Photoshop. I do not believe that Bridge (or any program) should normally behave this way. I like to use Bridge for viewing and organizing my files but find myself too frustrated to work with it. Is there any way to disable a single click from opening a selection into Photoshop? My current work-around: "right" clicking a file > pressing the Space Bar to dismiss the Dialog Box > using Arrow Keys to navigate. Let me know if you need a better explanation of what I am experiencing in order to help resolve this issue. Thank you
