Lightroom 5: Where do I find my serial number? (Boxed product)

How do I receive my serial number for Lightroom 5? I purchased a software CD from Amazon for Lightroom 5 upgrade and now I need a serial number so that it can be registered and operational. The box shows these two numbers, PN: 65215274 and also, LTRM,5.0,MLP,UPG,UE001,DV. There are NO other numbers anywhere in my package.
Neither of these numbers are recognized by ADOBE. What can I do in order for me to receive the necessary serial number needed for my product's registration?

A valuable number like a serial number would be on internal packaging, not on the outside of the box where it could be seen and used without purchasing the product. There might be a redemption-code in an e-mail from the seller or on a card or internal packaging.

Lightroom serial numbers are 24-digits and start with 1160. Redemption codes can be a mixture of letters and numbers.

Here is an Adobe help page the gives the various options for codes:
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/gl...

If there are no other numbers in the packaging or communications from the seller, then you may have been scammed. The contents of the DVD can be downloaded at any time from Adobe servers, so the codes are the only valuable thing to pay money for.

Check with the seller and see what they say. Maybe they sent an e-mail that you haven't seen. If worse comes to worse, report fraud to Amazon or PayPal or your credit-card bank and see if you can get a refund.

Do you have a link to the Amazon item you purchased?

Someone who is blind asked where the serial number is on the packaging and you can read their answers, which mostly describe some sort of location on an inner white box or sleeve. These answers are from Aug 2013 closer to when LR5 first came out:

Believe me I would have used that # rather than spending the last five days trying to chase it down thru Adobe's circular 'help' web site, Indentit-e, their non-existent & phone and chat options "open 24/7" NOT!
All geared & focused on sales - customer service is very poor indeed.

From what I can tell from the online Amazon listings, the serial number should be in the box, on an inner box or sleeve that the media is packed in.  Can you describe or maybe show a photograph of all the layers of your packaging to understand how many boxes or sleeves are inside other boxes?  Someone else is currently also having issues finding a serial number from LR 5 upgrade purchased from Amazon a little over a month ago so too late to return it as defective.  They let the trial run out so are apparently out-of-luck.

I saved all the packaging w/printed numbers and showed those #'s in my initial request for assistance.

The last time I got LR in a box was LR4. For that there was a box that was about 6x8x1 inches in a sleeve of the same dimensions and the bottom flap had the label you show at the left with the barcode and hologram and Adobe logo,

Then inside that rectangular box, there was a smaller square box just large enough to contain a DVD and only 1/2-inch thick. On the outside of this inner box was a label like you show at the top right DVS/A,LTRM,4.0,MLP,GEN,UI, etc, next to some printing that said things about the Adobe trademark, like what you show part of.

On the same side of that smaller inner box with the label just described above, there was a serial number label next to some text printed on the box that said to save your serial number.

What I see in your picture are pieces of cardboard cut out of a box, not the entire box. Do you have the rest of the box(es) or just these two pieces?

Those two pieces plus the CD are what I have and keep together. There was no other printed numbers or I would have included them in the collection. I made an effort to check out all the surfaces for important data and cropped those areas for inclusion with the CD in it's paper sleeve that then went into a zippered software CD case.

I've had someone else yesterday, purchased from Amazon UK and couldn't find the serial number. I wonder if there was a bad batch that missed the serial number being added.

Adobe customer support is not very helpful with this problem... and after all my efforts and communication with them to validify my purchase they ultimately referred me to the forum for advice on how to deal with this issue. Compounding my situation is that I happily used my new version of LR5 until it stopped working, alerting me to a 'problem', but by then the Amazon product return window had closed, since they limit returns / refunds to 30 days from purchase.

ALRIGHT!! AMAZON TO THE RESCUE. Such great & fast service less than 12 hours to respond and with this eMail message:
"I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. We certainly didn't expect this to happen.

I'd be happy to create a replacement with upgraded shipping but please understand that we can't exchange for a different version.

Instead, I've requested a full refund of $85.32. This refund will appear in the next 2-3 business days as a credit on the original payment method used for the order...."

What a difference in customer service with Adobe's messed up system!

Here's a quote from the Lightroom j
Journal:
http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjourn...

"Lightroom 5 Upgrade Eligibility
We’ve had several questions around who is eligible for an upgrade to Lightroom 5. Any Lightroom 1, 2 3, or 4 version of Lightroom, education editions included, can utilize the upgrade version of Lightroom 5. The prior version of Lightroom does not need to be installed on the computer, however you will need the prior version serial number at the time of installation of Lightroom 5.
>> If the prior version is still installed on the computer, Lightroom 5 will automatically pick up that serial number so you don’t need to go digging through boxes or your email.<

Well all I can say is that did not happen in my case and during the many communications I had with Adobe there was never one mention of this sort of thing.

When you install an upgrade version of LR, there are two serial numbers.

Your issue is with the primary LR 5 serial number, that should have been on the packaging but apparently wasn't and hasn't been, recently, for a handful of people so maybe there was a bad batch of packaging coming out of China or wherever Adobe packaging is assembled for your region of the world.

The quote, above, is about the secondary, previous version's serial number, that is required to be entered or found by having the previous version installed.

You'll see this two-serial-number process for yourself once you get a primary serial number out of Amazon or Adobe and use it to register LR5.

The two things really don't have anything to do with each other.

Where are you looking? The serial # should be on the white slipcase inside the outer sleeve that has the graphics on it. http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/gl...

I received a Light Room 5 from B&H but no white slip box with a serial number. Called B&H customer service, nice guys with no authority to help me.
Left on my own so wrote a formal letter to Adobe Corp offices and B&H Corp office in NY.
No answer.
Thinking of reporting this a fraudulent sale to State Attorney General Consumer affairs department as I see others with same problem with B&H and Adobe.
That seems like a draconian thing to do but I think some one else has my serial number and it originated before I was shipped the product.
Any suggestions on how to solve problem.
I tried looking on line but I am afraid to download an alleged key from sites that offer service as I don't know what else is coming with the download.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Lost serial number.

HELP! I ordered a hard copy of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom in one at Best Buy and now I can't find it. I really don't want to have to order it again since it costs so much, I don't recall if they got my email address or not but is there anyway I can retrieve the serial number?
