How do I move a selection in Photoshop CC 2015.5?

Hi guys, I recently upgraded to the above, and cannot for the life of me figure out how to move a selection. In the past I just click within and move using the marquee tool but now it picks up the pixels as well. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Hi Jim,
Use the Keyboard arrows!

I need to move big distances, keyboard arrows too slow. It's a workaround but not a solution.  I'd rather know how to use the mouse

not holding Ctrl or Cmd are you?

When a tool acts weird you can reset all tools to standard settings. Click in the upper left corner on your marque tool (In the Menu bar) with right mouse button and choose reset all tools (I have the Dutch version but it should be something like that).

I don't speak english . No , not holding Ctrl or Cmd only just approach the mouse cursor to the edge of the selection and when the cursor changes, left-click and drag.
Even resetting the tool, the procedure remains the same!
