I have posted this elsewhere, but it does not show up on your search, so here goes again. I have created and just patented a new way to upres image files. I need to able to apply it to large images, so I have to be able to write the data to a .psb. Adobe's 50 page description of the header is way less than helpful. I need to be able to construct the simplest possible header: no compression, no custom notes, one layer. Anybody care to instruct me?

The file format documentation in the Photoshop SDK explains everything you need.
But PSD/PSB is not a simple file format.

No, it does not explain clearly how to write a psb with only the basic size information and the raw data. I am asking politely for help with that. You are welcome to think little of my intelligence, but if you wish to help me you should actually help me write the simples possible header. Such an entity might still require a significant number of entries, but if I knew what the were I wouldn't ask. Can you help?

Yes, that documentation does explain the structure of a PSD/PSB file, including the basic header for a flat (no layers) document. Or you can read it at https://www.adobe.com/devnet-apps/pho...

Or you could do a search for "PSB file writer source code"

For many reasons, we cannot write your code for you.
