I am trying to have a photo put on a 20x24 canvas and they are saying I need to make the print smaller or resolution larger.

Hi James,

In Photoshop, you can change the size of an image using Image > Image Size.  That said, if your image doesn't contain enough data, you're just going to wind up with a pixelated mess if you scale it up without paying attention to the image quality.  At 72dpi, your image will not look nice.  At 120dpi, it'll look okay.  At 200dpi, it'll look good.  At 300pdi, it'll look awesome.  Depending on your image and use, your mileage may vary...

In any event, changing the resolution will NOT change the size of text relative to the image.  You'll need to edit the text to do that.
