Does anyone have a number or a link to file a complaint. I am fuming. This is an absolute JOKE!! 3rd time in about a month that I have had an issue. Last night my photos won't export!! I keep getting an error. Last problem I was basically called a lier numerous times by the guy on the chat because he'd never seen the problem before. Well just because you've never seen something doesn't mean it's not real! He could even SEE my computer and I clicked to show him that it has happened! Was still told that can't happen!! Like wtf? I am so pissed off by the way I was treated by this particular online help. An hour and a half later he disconnected and my issues was still not fixed!!! I was 2 days googling and trying online and phone help! I am paying for a monthly service for what??? Something that works 50% of the time? This is not on!! If I keep having issues I shall be finding another option to edit.

It is more than like a problem with the choice you are making as to where the image Files will be stored, Drive and Folder, that your username does not have Write permissions to.

Same thing I always do. Nothing has changed so why wouldn't thyw export as normal?? 2 online support people have done that today. Just wasted yet another hour and a half of my life when I have clients waiting for their photos and I'm no further ahead!! First on did something and it worked. Hung up phone. Did exactly what she did and I always do and guess it didn't work! So flipping frustrating!! Second person didn't seem to have a clue so hung up with nothing fixed and she changed something then closed the window so don't even know how to change the settings back!

Not sure how to file a complaint: presumably check Adobe's contact details for your region on their website.

Regarding your underlying technical issue, the most common reason why a photo won't export from Lightroom is because the folder/drive containing the original photo file (either raw or other format such as JPG) that was imported into LR is not accessible at the time of export. In LR, a green light appears next to the drive name in the Folder Panel on the left (in the Library Module) when the drive containing the folder is properly mounted and visible to LR. So, I recommend you check whether you've attached the drive containing those photos and can browse them via your operating system's file manager app (File Explorer or Finder). A reboot won't hurt either. If you can't browse the original photo files outside of LR, then you have to solve that first before you can export from within LR (possible reasons include a failed drive, network drive unit powered off, faulty cable between drive & computer, logged in with the wrong user account, or the read/write permissions for that folder need correcting).

Btw, I'm presuming you're trying to export from Lightroom Classic, as this is the forum for problems specifically related to that app. If you want further help resolving your issue, please share relelvant details (at least the application name, version, operating system version, the actual error message/screenshot, and a summary of what you've already tried to resolve it)...

Hi thanks for your reply. Photos are on my desktop. I am able to view them. Yes using LR classic. I've not changed any setting since my last export Friday night. I haven't even been on computer until yesterday. Nothing has changed so why wouldn't theyexport as normal? Just wasted yet another hour and a half of my life when I have clients waiting for their photos and I'm no further ahead!! First one did something and it worked. :typed old on the end of something) Hung up phone. Did exactly what she did and I always do and guess what, it didn't work! So flipping frustrating!! Second person didn't seem to have a clue so hung up with nothing fixed and she changed something then closed the window so don't even know how to change the settings back! All permissions have been granted. Both people looked at all that. Not using an external drive...

"Photos are on my desktop."
  • Do you actually mean you've placed the original raw Sony ARW photo files on your virtual Desktop, or do you mean they're store on the internal drive of your Mac desktop computer? If the former, I can't think of it causing any problems, but it's not the usual place where folks store their raw files.

"The file couldn't be written. (1) DSC08715.ARW"
  • The error message indicates that the export file couldn't be written. Can you share a screenshot of your export popup window's settings that you used to make the export?
  • At the top of the export popup window, there's a field entitled Export To: with a droplist giving different options: what is LR exporting to? For e.g., has it been switched to something other than Hard Drive?
  • If that setting is correct, as well as those in the Export Location section of the popup window, I'm wondering if the user account you've logged into your Mac with doesn't have write permissions to the destination folder where you've directed LR to store your export. A Champion can advise (I don't work for Adobe - I'm just a user like you), but I believe LR requires you to be logged in as an Administrator for it to run properly. Are you sure you've logged in using the same Mac user account you used to install LR?

"I've not changed any setting since my last export Friday night. I haven't even been on computer until yesterday. Nothing has changed so why wouldn't theyexport as normal?"
  • Just keep an open mind regarding what's potentially changed since the export last worked. If it worked before but doesn't now, something has changed (maybe not deliberately) - we just need to figure out what. For e.g., are you the only person who has access to your Mac, or is it shared with someone else (who could've potentially made changes)?
  • When you say you exported last Friday, did you successfully export the same photo that is giving you the export error now (DSC08715.ARW), or was that a different photo/s?
  • Are you able to export any other photos from that same folder in LR as the one giving the error above?
  • Are you able to export any photos from any other folder in LR, using the same export settings?
  • Are you using the same export preset used last Friday, or something else, and did you change any of the settings in the preset yesterday/today?
  • Did you (or anyone else who may have access to your Mac) install any Mac or Adobe updates since Friday?...

So far all you are doing is ranting. Why don't you post a COMPLETE explanation of your setup, operating system, LR version, where the RAW photos are stored, where you are exporting to... we can't help you otherwise.

This may be completely off base but Is it possible that the photos on the desktop are actually in the cloud? Apple changed things a while back and I know I had to go into iCloud to uncheck the cloud desktop because I like to store my desktop locally. Just a thought.

Hi thank you for giving me another option to try. I've just looked and it looks like it's not turned on at all. Thanks though
