Greetings Christian,

The simplest way to delete an album in Lightroom CC is to right-click with your mouse on the album and choose Delete from the context menu.

You can also go to the menu option Edit>Albums... and choose delete.

To add photos to an album, simply select them in the grid, click, hold and drag them onto the album where you would like them and release your mouse button.

I hope that helps!

No, but it's only one extra step to select all of the photos in the album, delete them, and then delete the album. They don't want to make deleting your photos too easy, just in case you make a mistake.

Having no option to delete an album or folder and their contents is a drawback in my point of view. At least there could be an option on deletion (Delete all contents | Keep contents). Or the user should be forced to first delete or move the contents before they are allowed to delete the album/folder.

Case study: I deleted many albums from last year. I got no option or warning on deletion. And then I realised that the photos still existed. So I had to select all photos of the deleted albums one by one from a huge pile of photos sort by date. Not intuitive at all...

That's fine, create a new "idea" (aka feature request) for it and then others can vote too.

Keep in mind that a Photo can belong to many Albums. If you delete and Album and that deletes the photo as well, it will affect all other albums that might contain those photos too.  This sounds like a way to unintentionally lose images.

@Rikk, I posted a new Idea (On album deletion, add option to delete associated photos), which resolves the risk you mention. I copy it the suggested change here:

On deleting an album, the system could provide options for the user to select if they want to:
a) [DEFAULT] Delete all exclusively associated photos (i.e. that are not associated to any other album)
b) Delete all associated photos
c) Keep all associated photos

In my case both (a) and (b) would do the job, since each album includes photos from one wedding, exclusively. However the default option (a) would possibly work better for most people.
