Lightroom Classic: Hierarchical keyword number of levels

The hierarchical keyword is very useful for structured data and consistent data entry.
In part of my very long list I use Taxonomy / Scientific classification. That classification system has become longer over time and the hierarchical keyword schema is no longer able to cope with the number of levels. I use two levels to get to Natural History and the remaining eight gets most of the way to the family depending on the number of stages between domain and family for a particular sub-species. Therefore I am having to double up of a number of levels, reducing the usefulness of the classification. Please could we have another 5 levels of hierarchy to deal with present and future needs. I appreciate that the additional levels would not be needed by everyone, but the classification is standard(ish) and I suspect there are a lot of wildlife photographers that are not using alternative catalogues.

LR lets you add at least 50 levels (I didn't try any deeper). I think the issue you're experiencing is that the levels displayed in the Keyword List panel truncate past a certain point and LR does a bad job of calculating how many characters can be displayed:

You can work around this by making the panel wider. Click and drag on the left-hand divider (it's fussy about where to click, so slowly move the mouse left-to-right over the divider until the cursor changes to a left-right arrow, then click and drag.)

There's a maximum width, which on Mac you can exceed by holding down Opt while you drag.

There's a long-standing bug on LR Windows 10 that broke the ability to hold Alt while you drag. But by editing a config file, you can increase the maximum width to whatever you want:

I'm not seeing your problem.  I don't know of any practical limit on the number of Keyword hierarchy levels other than not having a wide enough right panel to show them all.

I just created a 15 level hierarchy.

Can you be more specific on what happens if you try to create a level 6 on your computer?

Thank you for spending the time to do this.
I am using Lightroom Classic and it is upto date.
Natural History is at level 2 and Aeshna cyanea is at level 10. Level 9 has to include sub-order, Family, and Genus to achieve this. As with your level 15 the triangle is grayed out and did not have create in the dropdown list. Even when I tried it again a few moments ago.
However, on second attempt it did allow me to create within. I have now got to level 20, and am only apparently limited by the width of the panel, dragged to its widest.
So, thank you again, the idea is already sorted. It must have been user error the stopped it creating more levels earlier.
