I just tried this and it does nothing on Windows CC19.

By hide I assume "collapse" is meant...

While "hide" would be to turn the eyeballs off.

Either way, selecting the group and hitting CTRL does nothing over here

EDIT. Just noticed your comma key and that works fine!

Not sure about the hot key.  I select all layers (make sure layer is not locked), then choose"new group from layers" from layers dropdown list. So i have the "hot key" - click the eye icon on left side of the group to hide/show all.

Yeah. I am thinking this is for a situation with tons of layers and folders and rather than scrolling up and down, the original poster wants to do it all with one command. Which is not a bad idea.... if you don't want to use "Collapse All Groups" dropdown.

However, after my 1st reply... I just realized that Jeff had a "COMMA" key with "CTRL". That's the same as clicking the eye.

Correct. I wasn't sure if the Gauthier was referring to collapsing or uncollapsing the folder UI, or hide/show the layers using the eyeball.

There isn't a shortcut to expand or collapse a group. There are modifiers to expand or collapse all groups.
