Photoshop: Hidden, clipped-to-smart-object color fill layer is visible when 'exporting as' to PNG

THE SETUP: I have a couple different smart object icons(calendar1 & calendar2) that I'm testing in an UI layout. Each one has a few color fill layers clipped to them.

THE EXAMPLE: I "test" calendar2 with calendar1 hidden below, (calendar1 color fill layer shows greyed out "visible" icon — screenshot #1)

#1

THE RESULT: Using the new "Export As..."(Cmd+Option+Shift+W) command, I export a PNG(all other formats/settings/options = same result), the exported image shows the fill un-clipped (top of screenshot #2):

#2

EXPECTED RESULT: The PS document window shows how I would like it to look (bottom of screenshot #2)

CURRENT WORKAROUND: #1) "Save for Web..."(Cmd+Option+Shift+S) saves images as expected, but I'd like to achieve the smaller file size that "Export As..." allows. #2) If I hide all fill layers below my target/visible layer (screenshot #3), then it exports as expected.

#3

I don't remember this being an issue in the first days I had used "Export As...". Is it a known bug? Would love to get it figured out as I use "Export As..." quite often.

Have you tried using the more reliable SaveForWeb?

You'll see in my original post, under Current Workaround that I have, in fact, used "Save For Web...", but again, it's a workaround since the file size is significantly larger using that method. Why have an "Export As..." option if it doesn't work? That's the issue here. Thanks for the comment.

Ah, I missed that part.

Export As has quite a few known problems.

I hear ya. Doesn't hurt to bring these bugs into the light, right? :)

Also, I haven't actually come across many problems using "Export As..." until this one. Maybe I've just been lucky.
