REVEL:Here is what I have learned so far and another Question...

Here is what I have figured out from spending a couple of hours “playing” with uploading photos into albums, changing photos from albums and downloading (playing is a better word than working...)

1. Upload is still smooth and quick.
2. When I upload to a folder and want to move change the location for the photo, I cannot move it directly to a different folder/album. I need to remove from the album and then find it among all my many photos and add it to the album---very slow and not practical. I found it easier to delete it and upload again. This only works, of course, if you have not deleted the photo from the hard drive (which I normally do after storing in the cloud, printing a pic and putting on CD/DVD or some storage media.)
3. For trial purposes I labelled a few photos as it appeared the previous name did not upload with it, at least not to see it. When I downloaded the photo to see if the new photo title downloaded with the image I discovered that the NEW title did not download but the original title that you cannot see unless you use save as. That means I could pretend to download, do save as and see my label. It also means the only reason to re-label is for screen purposes and that I need to label using the computer before uploading. If not, you just will re-download the camera file number for the photo. I really do not want to label twice for any reason but I would like to be able to edit a file/photo name and then share that name.

I think the naming issue needs to be figured out...it is fundamental and is causing angst.

As an FYI, I have been reading the postings in hopes of learning something more about REVEL. It would help if a specific purpose could be identified for REVEL. Who is the audience/target and for what purposes do you intend for the site.

I went back to photoshop.com to see if that would be an appropriate site for me but I have moved away from that level of creative photography and do not need what it offers.

So QUESTION: if I go ahead and upgrade to Elements 11 right now, if I rename a file after editing will it be treated like a NEW photo or ???? I guess the question is how Elements interfaces with REVEL before spending the $$ to get 11. Again, thank you for the responsiveness to the questions.

I also do not want to pay for 11 if 12 is right around the corner.

Photoshop.com is being discontinued next month, so that would not be a good option anyway.

Who is the Revel audience?
Revel is targeted at the consumer who wants to save photos so that they can be viewed on all of their devices...phone, tablet, and computer without having to allocate storage space on all of them, and share photos with friends and relatives of all ages and technical ability (since they can view albums on a browser and download photos). It is also being used by enthusiasts and some professionals and businesses, although this crowd is generally served by the creative cloud instead.

Regarding naming and tagging:
Elements can tag photos and you can rename the files, but Revel does not show either of those at this point. If you are in Revel and you download the file back to your computer, it will retain the filename, but if your friends download it from adoberevel.com , it will have a generic name based on the order of the file in the album...such as photo_1.jpg.We have had requests to show the filename and to expose the tags and to be able to move photos to different albums more easily. This information has been shared with product management for possible inclusion in future versions of Revel.

I hope that helps!
