Photoshop CS6: problems with Finder and seeing files on desktop

I'm operating Photoshop CS6. Up to now I've had no problems but over the last week when I complete my work and I try to SAVE it to my desktop it doesn't show up on my Imac DESKTOP. A second problem which is brand new is all of a sudden the photos I have on my desktop and in folders have gone blank. If I click on the jpeg or Psd number under the picture shows up but that means taking a lot of time to segregate groupings.

MacOS has a couple of known bugs where it will fail to display file icons/thumbnails for some people, in some folders, some of the time.
Sometimes rebooting solves the problem, sometimes deleting the OS metadata/thumbnail caches solves the problem, and sometimes it just goes away on it's own...
We don't know the exact details of the OS bug, but it seems to be related to a failure in metadata parsing when the OS tries to read the files to extract data and thumbnails.
