Lightroom: Make it easier to see and find WAV files

.wav files need to be easier located. If I understand it correctly, the only way to see the .wav file from my D3S is in the Library mode. I'd like to see it while I'm in the Develop mode and especially like to see it in the film strip. Right now I have to keep bouncing back and forth between Library and Develop. Can anyone tell me another way to find my voice files?

You could import the voice files as separate files in the catalog using the Any File plugin. But that may or may not make your workflow more convenient...

I am a bird photographer and use voice annotations all the time. I have used Digital Pro and Photo Mechanic to quickly locate the voice annotations (they both display a sound icon on top of the thumbnail). I currently use LightRoom for most everything else and wish Adobe would add an icon somehow, it would enable me to get rid of another piece of software that I would not normally use.

Owen....this must be something that MOST don't care about. I've made the request several times over the past couple of years to no avail. Even my original post here is over a year old.

But I'd still like to see it addressed by the Adobe LR folks.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled wav file filter.

It would be helpful if the library filter METADATA could list .wav files. The WAV file attached to an image file (recorded in-camera when reviewing a photo) does show in the EXIF information panel, and is playable from there.

But there seems to be no way to filter for the images with WAV files embedded/attached.

Currently I have to use Windows>FILE EXPLORER and sort by file type in the folder with the images, note the file numbers, and then find them in LR.

Thank you

As a workaround while waiting for Adobe to implement this, you could use the Any Filter or Data Explorer plugins.  For example:

Thanks John.   I found this thread before posting, I assumed since it was so old that it must be dead, thus I started a new one. Thanks for merging mine with with the proper.

Do I assume that when "Any Filter" finds a wav file it then filters them down the same as the current library filter and I'll be looking only at the files that have a wav file attached/embedded. (Sorry if that is a luddite question)

The Filter command behaves similar to the built-in Library Filter, filtering the currently displayed photos to show only those meeting the given criteria. In this case, only those photos with an associated .wav file will be displayed.  E.g. if DSC0103.CR2 is currently being displayed in grid view, and the file DSC0103.WAV exists in the same folder as DSC0103.CR2, then DSC0103.CR2 will be displayed by the Filter command.
