I need to make all the text in some work stronger without using the bold version.
Is there anyway to do this? Outlining or shadow, I dont know? Pretty new to photoshop so I may well be being silly!

Without knowing the situation in which you are trying to use the text - we can't know.

There are lots of tricks available: color choices, drop shadows, subtle glows, pattern fills, gradient fills, outline strokes, etc. But what is most appropriate depends on the situation in which the text will be used and seen.
