Help!!! I cant update to the latest Lightroom version. Apparently mine is at least 2 years old and dosent support the RAW files for my new camera. Ive uninstalled & reinstalled many times, used the CC cleaner tool to no avail. I always end up with the same old version? Adobe customer support have been next to useless with this. Ive been going around in circles with this for weeks. Any constructive advise greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Wellcome to the 'Magic Roundabout' I've had the exact same problem for the past two years with Lightroom not updating! The update option are always greyed out and inoperative, it seems to me like I've aged 10 years trying to sort out his issue to no avail. To be fair the support team have always managed to update my version of Lightroom at that particular moment in time, the issue then returns with the next update. Adobe appear not to care or advise/remedy this issue and reading between the lines there plenty of folk with the same issue. I know there is another update in force but I'm loathed to get involve with yet another lengthy and life shortening phone call yet again! Maybe I'll just skip a few updates and enjoy a few months of sanity!!

Kindest regards.

Hi Robert.
Its ridiculous...My Canon 80d is sitting gathering dust while my clients are getting an inferior product from older hardware.
It seems we all are expected to be IT engineers or computer programmers to utilize the latest photography software. Software that they have no problem taking our money for.
Ive run out of ideas and time after a month of trying to fix this.
Maybe start looking for an alternative software.
Anyone know of any decent alternatives?
Cheers

LR not infrequently refuses to update itself automatically.  Try manually downloading the update to 2016.12 (the latest version):

Mac: http://swupdl.adobe.com/updates/oobe/aam20/mac/AdobeLightroom-6.0/6.12/setup.dmg
Windows: http://swupdl.adobe.com/updates/oobe/aam20/win/AdobeLightroom-6.0/6.12/setup.zip

After the download completes, double-click the file (Mac: setup.dmg, Windows: setup.zip) and double-click the installer to run it.  This will update your currently installed version to LR CC 2015.12.

Hi John...Thanks mate. I ran this patch on my pc. The familiar " unable to install, Please close all instances of Adobe application manager before applying updates" appeared.
I tried it signed and signed out of CC to no avail...?

My only suggestion is to search for others encountering that error message and trying their solutions:

https://www.google.com/search?q=Please+close+all+instances+of+Adobe+application+manager+before+apply...

The Creative Cloud update is fairly unreliable, unfortunately.

Hi Scott,

I've tried all the tips suggested by John over the past couple of years and none have worked! It's so frustrating and there appears to no help available other that the 'Help Support Phone line' which as worked for me in the past but it doesn't actually address the unreliable nature of the 'update section of Lightroom CC' However, there is one Adobe product than never fails! and that is the subscription section.. which reliably informs you when your subscription renewal is due/when you credit card is due to expire and takes your money without fail every month without breaking into a sweat!! Which proves without a doubt that Adobe can make stuff work when they put time and effort into it?

Kindest regards and good luck,
Robert.

Really appreciate the help and input so far guys.... At least it feels like people are thinking about it as opposed to not giving a sh!t passed the point of signing you up and getting your credit card details.
I dont even care if it's not the latest version. I just need to start being able to use my new camera.
Anyone know of any workarounds to get photos from a Canon 80d onto this bloody software? :))

Creating a new user account with admin rights appears to fix the issue for some users.

https://forums.adobe.com/message/5632644#5632644

This would indicate there are some user specific files causing the problem and  the CC Cleaner tool doesn't remove them.
