Photoshop CS6: Cannot move text (Windows)

Hello, all. I've had to install a new motherboard and completely reinstall Windows and all my programs, including Photoshop. I'm using Photoshop CS6, v. 13.0 x32. I used to be able to drag text after putting it on a background layer, but am finding the ability to drag text disabled. I can use my keyboard arrow keys to drag, but gosh that's cumbersome. Is there an option I am missing that I should choose in order to be able to use the mouse to drag text around an image?

I've also lost my "warp text" option on the panels, though I still see it when the text layer is selected. Any help with adding that option back to the panels on the right would be much appreciated.

Thanks much in advance!

Howdy Anne,

It sounds like you don't have the right layer and/or tool selected.  You need to view the Layers panel and select the correct layer that contains Type.  Then activate the Move tool (V).  Now you should be able to move your text around.

Once the Move tool is active, you'll see the first option at the upper-left is Auto-Select.  When that's checked, whatever you click automatically gets focus.  Perhaps you unchecked this by accident?

The Warp Text options are only supposed to be available when you have the Type tool (T) active.

Check out the visual:

Please let me know if you continue to have troubles.

Thanks,
David
