Photoshop: Healing Brush brush cursor inverts preview

Hi, I have been using Photoshop professionally for ever and a day. I am sure this never used to be like this:

I am using the healing brush today on a photo of a metal object with lots of silvers and greys. The problem is that the brush preview area is inverting the colour of the image within the cursor area. This is a problem as I cannot see what I am brushing over. I am having to guess. I would prefer the cursor brush area to just be just an outline, or give me a positive preview, not inverted.

Is this something new that has been introduced, and can I switch it off?

Thanks for your help.

Go to Window > Clone Source... and make sure Invert is unchecked.

Is the blendmode set to Normal in the Clone Source? If invert is unchecked, it might be set to Difference or Lighten.

Try resetting the tool: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/basic-troubleshooting.html#tool

If that doesn't work, can you make a screen recording to demonstrate the problem? Make sure the entire screen is visible including the layers panel, clone source panel and tool options bar.
