Have used Photoshop CS3 for years on Window 7 with no problem 10 weeks ago purchased new PC with Windows 8.1. Loaded CS3 from CS3 Master Suite disc and it worked OK till last week then the Lasso tool stopped work that caused the key board to stop working. Restart and it is all OK till the same thing happens again so re installed CS3 and it still the same problem. Have taken the PC back to recovery points 17.09.15 also to 04.09.15 and to 26.08.15 and its still the same and have now uninstalled CS3 again and the PC is working OK. The next move will probably be back to factory reset but that is such a pain reloading every thing. Has anyone any ideas on this problem.

Hi Keith,

I would honestly be a little surprised if CS3 worked on Windows 8.  I say this because commercial software sits on top of the computer's operating system and OSes can change pretty dramatically between versions.  There's a gap of five years between the CS3 and Win8, which is a fairly long time in the software world.  Further, CS3 came out more than eight years ago, so it's kinda old technology.  I would strongly recommend upgrading -- there have been MANY improvements made in the last eight years...

Thanks,
David

Hi David
Many thanks for getting back to me and I am beginning to think the same but at 79 the cost of the latest Photoshop is beyond me at the moment having just paid out on a new computer. I love Photoshop and have lots of fun with it moving people from one photo to another that causes lots of laughs with friends. I have done 5 courses at the New College, Swindon on using Photoshop so I am very sad to have to loose it.
Kind regards
Keith

Howdy Keith,

For what it's worth, you can use the new version of Photoshop for just $10 a month.  And you get all the cool new features we've been adding...!

You could, also, install CS3 on a machine with an older operating system, such as Win7.  Just trying to come up with ideas so you can continue enjoying the application.

Have a good one,
David

Howdy Keith,

I'm glad that I could help.  Unfortunately, I'm not part of the customer service team; I'm actually part of the development team for the app.  But, I believe this link should work for you: https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/photography.html   It gives you Photoshop and Lightroom for $9.99 ($10) a month.

If for any reason this isn't what you want or the charges don't add up, just ping me here and I'll get some from customer service (who's more familiar with the business end of things) to help you out, ok?

Thanks and enjoy!
