Photoshop: Grid overlay for Liquify (rulers, guides)

(I don't mean viewing the mesh)

A lot of my Liquify time is spent correcting minor imperfections in surfaces and edges. Having horizontal and vertical reference would be a great help. A huge help.

Guides would be ideal, but I imagine the grid would be easier to implement.

I too would love guides in Liquify.
That or a customizable grid in which you can alter the size of the grid to suit your needs.
Something that can get turned off and on with a quick key would be awesome too.

There is a work around if you make a layer to use as guides and use it as a 'Backdrop' but that's no fun...

I was going to propose this same idea. I do a lot of work where I have to modify something to make it symmetrical (most of time photographed dresses). A grid overlay in the liquify screen to serve as a guide to achieve the goal of matching both sides symmetrically would be a great help, not only for this but for many more purposes.
I think the grid is a must but the ability to see also the guides would be a great plus.

What I do now is to create a layer with a grid and show it in the liquify screen but this is not a great solution and also it is not easy to draw a grid in Photoshop since there is no specific tool for that (I create it in illustrator and import it)

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled PHOTOSHOP: liquify rulers (guides).

We often use liquify to make something straight. It would be useful and much easier if we had the rulers like we have in the regular view. Vertical and horizontal.

thanks!

Would it be possible to add a quide-function in liquify?

Right now I am doing a separate layer with a one-pixel marquee selection tool and filling it with a color. The function outside liquify when you drag guidelines from the ruler would be perfect or something similair would be handy.

and it almost always works.

except when it does this (image on the right is in the liquify dialog; guides are not aligned):
