Lightroom CC: No grid view

Grid view on one of two computers does not work.  It works on the Android tablet and one Win 10 computer, but not on the Win 10 laptop.  I can step through the photos with arrow keys.  I have tried various graphics and video processor settings to no avail.

So, if you hit [ G ] it stays in single image Loupe view?

The first thing to check is the video driver. I see you mention settings but you don't mention going to the video card manufacturer's website and checking for the latest driver.

Next would be a preference file reset on that computer only:

With Lightroom CC Closed, hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] and click on the Lightroom CC icon. You should see a dialog like this: 

Click the [Reset Preferences] button. 

Does Grid show up now?

Thanks for the response.  The video processor is a Radeon 6700M series running on an HP Pavilion Laptop.  I updated the driver.  No change.  Your instructions to reset the preferences only brought up a Windows based dialog for Lightroom CC Properties.  I can only get an image from any area if I select the area in my photos and then right click and select "open in detail" within the image area. Then I can move from image to image with an arrow key.  Changing the view to Grid ("G" key - both types) does nothing, but if I move the vertical slider on the right after selecting a grid mode, it will cause a large number of the same horizontal strip from the image to appear in the view.  The grid size slider does nothing.  It is bizarre.  Also, after the first instance of this behavior, I removed and re-installed Lightroom CC.

It doesn't sound like you were successful in updating the preferences. Can you follow the instructions again and take a screenshot of the dialog you receive?

Yes, that dialog is for the desktop Alias not for the Lightroom executable.  Try locating the Lightroom executable and it should allow you to do a proper reset.

Right after I posted the screen shot, I tried to reset by using the Lightroom CC icon in the start area vice the desktop Icon and the reset processed and stepped me through a clean setup of the application.  The grid views still do not work. The application behaves as previously stated.

and you still have no grid by [ G ] key shortcut or View>Square Grid or View>PhotoGrid?

Did I get all that right? I want to make sure before I bring in an engineer that we've covered the bases.

  • What you stated is correct.  Attached find a screenshot of the app when it opens.  All photos should be visible in grid mode, but I have to right click and select show detail to get on individual image on the view.  Also attached is the config file from the preferences dialog within the app.  Thanks for the assistance
