After about every photo I edit, the menu items become grayed out. I then have to close and reopen photoshop. Please assist as this is very frustrating.

Which menu items? Some can be disabled because of color mode, bit depth, modal states, etc.

Have you installed all the updates for Photoshop?

And do you have any third party plugins installed that might cause problems? Have you tried disabling them?

I have just finished editing a photo. All the menu-items are grayed out. If I now close PS and re-open it, I can start editing the next photo again. Color mode RGB, depth 8 bit. PS is updated - wanted to give you the version, but even that is grayed out. If I am using actions, the actions will run until keyboard or other intervention is needed. I am using OnOne and ALCE v2 plugins.

I have re-installed OnOne 5 because that neve gave any problems but this problem persists.

Please make sure you have all the Photoshop updates installed (12.0.4 or 12.1).

Ok, then the only remaining cause we know if is third party plugins.

(12.0 had a bug that would blank menus sometimes, but that was fixed in 12.0.1)

Only see now I replied on the no-reply email!

At the point where the problem occurs, all the options on the menu bar is grayed out. In other words, I cannot use the "Share System Information" button. Is there a workaround?

This sounds like an issue CS5/12.0.0 that was fixed in CS5/12.0.1.

Quit Photoshop. Launch Bridge and choose Help>Updates... and install all of the updates.

I am using CS6 Beta at the moment to see if the problem is solved, but it still continues.

The only available update is Device Central V5.01. I am installing that now. Although I don't think that will solve the problem.

And the item under "Help>System Info..." is greyed out if you launch Photoshop all by itself?

i.e. Launch Photoshop and get the System Info prior to the problem occurring.

I can access the system info before the problem occurs. After the problem occurs, it is grayed out.

Are you on Mac or Windows? (and what version)

Please also disable all 3rd party plugins to see if the problem goes away. You can do a coarse test by simply renaming the plug-ins folder "~Plug-Ins" and relaunching Photoshop:

I am using Mac OS 10.7.3. I am busy eliminating the plugins one by one. What is so strange that the menu items used in actions is still working. It is only the menu items in the menu bar that gets grayed out. So the moment I deviate from an action to do something manually I have to close and re-open Photoshop to access the menu items manually.

Since the Adobe people deleted my last post... I'll try again

1. They worked for over 2 hours via screen access with the tech rep from (I presume Vietnam) over seas. NO HELP

2. They must want you to buy Revel... As it is the one thing that imports to "Organizer"

3. They want you to buy PE 12.

ie they want money.

I'm taking mine back to ask for a refund as it doesn't work.

Michael, no one deleted your post. It was merged with the topic for Elements that covers it as separate issue and provides a solution here:

This post is for Photoshop CS/CC, not Elements.
