Something recent with more than 512 Meg of VRAM.

If you are going to do a lot of 3D work, I'd suggest GPUs from the past 6 months (not necessarily most recent, but close), with 2 Gig of VRAM or more. And make sure you update the driver from the GPU maker's website.

Thanks, Chris. I just got a Dell Inspiron 2020 All-in-One, but when I try to find out something about the GPU, I can't. The sound, video and game controllers only tell me stuff about the audio. Is the GPU something I need to buy along with the graphics card?

The GPU is the heart of your graphics card.

Unfortunately, some laptops and all-in-one machines come with the drivers locked down (so you have to get updates from the system builder, which are frequently years behind the current driver versions).

A newer OS version would pick up newer drivers on MacOS.
But does your GPU have 512 Meg or more of VRAM available?
