So I create a new gradient pallet with some of my own gradients I give it a name and I can see it in my list and everything is fine until I try to add to it. Once I add to it if I then leave it for a different set of gradients and try to go back photoshop says I cannot because it cannot find them, even though the name of my gradient pallet can still be seen on the list. Close photoshop open it again and try to switch to them now it can now find them. What is going on here? This only happens when I try to add to my pallet as long as I add nothing I can move around pallets just fine. I think there is a bug but maybe it is just the way it works. I am sharing this with you to let you know just in case you feel its a bug that could do with fixing. I just save pallets where photoshop prompts me to save them I don't try and save it anywhere clever. Using photoshop CC latest version on a iMac latest version running OSX 10.9.5

That doesn't make sense.

You probably want to read the Photoshop documentation on how presets work. It sounds like you are confusing multiple concepts; and that is affecting your explanation of the problem you are seeing.

You never add palettes: palettes are just named windows that you open in Photoshop (layers palette, histogram palette, etc.).
You create presets, and add them to the current set of presets, and can save that set of preset to a file, or load a set of presets from a file.

Also, it is helpful to specify exactly which version of Photoshop you are using, since many people seem to be confused over what is "latest."
